Re: Does anyone know what time the Saturday retro race is? Only I've found out last week I have to be in Brighton on the Saturday, and may have to stop over. An afternoon start would be good!

Unofficially it should be fine to sleep over in a van in the car park, especially if you park out of the way a bit in the overflow.

Count me in for this one too - I'm sure I can make the 15 mile journey to it :lol:

Does it have to be Gripshift? I have some Sachs twist shifters; pretty sure they're 7 speed.

It's a bit spur of the moment late notice and all that, but is it OK if a tatty Diablo (and equally scruffy rider) joins you tomorrow? And is there bonus points for a car as old as the bike?

I've just put a new set of Grab-Ons on mine, after always using them back in the day. Used Ritchey WCS for a while but not as good, then I found that you could still get MTN-1s: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/handlebar-t ... r-sleeves/ I preferred the hexagonal MTN-2s, but not found any new ones...

Re: Thanks for the welcome and the bigging me up! To be fair though, I did have a few things on my side - I had an early start on the time trial so didn't get stuck behind anyone, plus I'm fairly local so have ridden parts of the route before, although not the Slab. Plus I'm kind of 'familiar'...

Re: I've just found this thread, and thought I'd pop up and say hello! It was great to see the older bikes doing what they were made to do, so hopeful there will be more such events in the future. I really like the photo someone took of me on the descent, which was completed more by sheer luck...

I think you'll find that it can be guaranteed to be peeing it down in the depths of Wales! Oh, hang on a minute, I think there was a day in June that it didn't rain... :lol:
