Trying to identify my 1950s Lenton Sports

I am looking at a set on eBay now - 38mm adjustment in drop! That will certainly do the trick

Trying to identify my 1950s Lenton Sports

I would love the source for NOS Bluemels mudguards please. On the wheels I would actually prefer to go smaller than larger as it is closer to the original size (a 650B rim is half an inch smaller while a 27 inch is over an inch and a quarter larger) but I have been constrained by the brakes...

Trying to identify my 1950s Lenton Sports

Mine is just a frame (but that in very nice condition) so I am rebuilding it. I tried a pair of 650B wheels but the GB Coureur brakes I have won't reach the rims (582 diameter vs the original wheels at 597mm). The brakes will reach 622 or 630 rims so I will go up in size. I've found a set of SKS...

Trying to identify my 1950s Lenton Sports

Aah, the new-fangled derailleur version. With only 4,000 frames apart mine must have been one of the last Lenton Sports and yours one of the earliest Lenton GPs. Does your bike have 27 inch wheels (and if so, do they fit in the frame with mudguards?). I am trying to work out what to do with...

Trying to identify my 1950s Lenton Sports

That is interesting! Did yours have similar 1957 decal layout? (Raleigh vertically down the seat tube and "Lenton Sports" running along the downtube). I am getting some reproduction 1957 decals made and, given MOQs, would be glad to give you some.

@3wheeler7 (or anyone else) any clues on where I can find a new set of decals? H Lloyd has many Lenton decals but not the 1957 set.

Trying to identify my 1950s Lenton Sports

Great to know, thank you. So I have a 1957 Lenton Sports (which happens to be the year I was born). I'm going to enjoy restoring this one. I already have a dilemma with wheels. Looks like the bike originally had 26x1-1/4 wheels (597) which are impossible to find. I'll need to go down to...

It has, but the frame itself does not appear to have been repainted.

Trying to identify my 1950s Lenton Sports

I have just acquired a Lenton Sports frame in quite decent condition. I am trying to identify the model specifics before embarking on restoration. It has the Reg Harris Olympic torch logo and, unusually, the "Lenton Sports" decal is on the downtube and "Raleigh" runs vertically down the seat...
