    Rebuilding forks elastermers

Yes, I've done what you are proposing with mixed results. Firstly, the damping and rebound is affected, you could say firmer and 'quicker'. Almost harsh. Now that's what I wanted actually but a bit of a slower compression would have been nice. Purely based on a quick setup though. Feel free to...

    Marin Eldridge Grade Lite upgrades

The first on the agenda for me, would be bottom bracket and stem attention. Whip off the cranks and get the BB out, see what you are dealing with. Even if it's blow out the curry powder, re grease and put back in. If original or, a sympathetic swap out with a cartridge jobby. These old steel...

    Mavic 230 tib advice

Yep, leave them alone. If you de-lace them, my money is that they will be tricky to true up again in another spoke and hub setup. As good as they are, they are not treasure. Save yourself some faffing around.

    Marin team 95?

With marins from early to mid 90's, there is not yet an accurate science to work everything out. Almost antiquary where rembrandt did paint something, but cannot be put down to the month/ year, but a masterpiece typical of the time when a certain pigment became available to artists. 1995 team...

    Marin Pine Mountain

It'll come down to your end goal with it. If you are sourcing new parts that are mint, then the frame/fork/stem may seem rough. If not then just strip it down bare and give it a scrub with a little washing up liquid in the water/ sponge scourer. It's often surprising how zolatone comes up, even...

    Team Marin experts?

I've had two of them, over 15 years or so. Just about the best tubing on the planet. It was top of the league in 1995 as the team issue was dropped for that year. Hence F1. There is some anomalies re: model and serial numbers but you are safe here. Its a non picky and tunable model. With 27.2mm...

    Rock shock SIDs with cantilevers?

Read through this.... https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/fork-crown-mounted-canti-brake-rocker-things.427942/ I mounted to reflector hole and had no issues. Don't over think it.

What cantilever brakes? (Acera X Vs Deore LX)

The LX will feel slightly better in build quality and setup will be a doddle. However, performance won't be huge in difference and, you won't care about scratches etc to the black gloss. Bang the accera on, still around since mid 90's. Keep them clean and well lubed, should do another 20 years...

And what a stand! Some knockout products, a real treat for the eyes. Dan on the right... I had the usual wonder about and saw plenty of retro machinery. Some bargains to be had. The 90's bike displays are bigger and better than previous years. Still sunday to go, get over there!
