1997 GT Edge Aero

David Tiemeyer...
No doubt a very bright man.
"Intellectual Property is the product of human intellect and creativity, including original works like books, music, inventions, and designs."

Bold Statement... GT, the Olympic works bikes (1&3) and the production bikes were David Tiemeyer designs, IP licensed to GT...

I say that because when David left GT so did his designs as they were his personal property as evidenced by this continuous design evolution through 2013 when David Tiemeyer retired.

Shame he didn't keep with the aero seatpost - it makes the overall shape look a lot more logical and consistent.
Free tri bars still on offer to get those shifters "in the right place" mike😉

Hi Bikeworkshop,
It would be nice to have the aero seatpost but I'm working with what I have, but.. If a Tiemeyer geared time trial frame shows up in my size I think I would be all over it.
Writing this stuff helps keep my head in the project as the back story is a good one, just digging it out is a adventure. But like the saying goes... "The more you know the more you realize you know nothing".
I post this stuff in the hope that someone comes along and seys "Ya got it all wrong and this is what really happened..."
Thank you again for your generous offer.

Have A Great Evening And A Wonderful Tomorrow: Mike

Parts arrived and I finally did something🤪.
The rear derailleur is mated to the long cage and overhauled with a few tweaks. Jrc ceratech jockey wheels, vintage Kronos pivot bolt, titanium bits here and there. Lubricated with a red grease/anti-seize blend. All motions are smooth like butter.

Have A Grand Saturday: Mike
Fantastic work! Is that a Cypress tree cone?

I bought a GT Edge of this vintage once off a crazy old bike repair guy in my town for forty dollars once, then like a moron I sold it to someone for the same price I thought would treasure, it, but he just flipped it for profit and it was gone. I talked to someone who was a mechanic at the local GT dealer back in the 90s and he said that it was a rare bike that they sold very, very few of. Come to think of it, I don't see any GT road bikes of any model at all in the local used bike market, ever. I think the GT mountain bikes were a lot more popular than their road models. But one of my favorite bikes ever, are the GT racing bikes they made for the olympics back then, not sure which year it was in the 90s, but I have some photos of them saved I look at and day-dream now and then.
