Re: Thanks hamster, thats what i feared, i was hoping to go for the 2x11 mtb set up but even a long road cage wont handle that range of gears. bit pissed off with shimmano really but never mind. just got to sort out a 15mm bolt through conversion for the wheel and can try it out on 26x2.1 tyres.

I`ve just bought a disc equipped b17 with 170mm bombers on it. After riding a mount vision since `97 I can honestly say its a really good bike. The bombers are a bit heavy for what i do really but until I find a replacement I`m going to hammer them.

Re: Do you mean what length of steerer you need. Stem length can vary depending how you want it to ride.

Re: Don't know whether it's me or not but I feel they are much more progressive once they have warmed up a bit. It could be me getting used to them but that feeling is pretty consistent. Cold - grabby. Warm - spot on.

Re: Well after a couple of rides I can say I'm really impressed. Forks I think are a bit too long for going up hill but it's so much more capable going down than my mount vision. The plan to strip and re finish may be considerably delayed due to use.

Re: I'm running 203's and I found them too grabby at first. Now I'm getting used to them I like them. I never need more than one finger anymore.

Re: Measured today, rear arm is the longer 470mm arm so I'm happy with that. I increased the rear shock pressure from 120psi to 230psi and now sag is spot on. Need to rebuild the rear hub bearings, swap out the free hub and ideally get an adaptor to play with the air in the forks. Then it's...

Re: I initially thought the earlier b17 had a longer arm so was looking for one like that although only really wanted a frame / fork to build / play with. I would consider a full or part bike but it all comes down to costs. Don't want to spend lots as I don't know if I'll like it.

Re: Ok. I can see slight differances in the front mounting point there. Think I'll go for it anyway as I think it's reasonably priced for the stuff it's got on it. Will have to try and get a cheap front wheel " 20mm " and ride it as is. If it doesn't work I could sell it on and lot loose out...

Re: Been to see the bike but it doesn't come with the wheels so if I go for it I'll have to find a 20mm bolt through wheel or swap the 160mm marzochi for a QR fork so I can use my wheels. Also the rear swing arm is the same length as my 96 mount vision and I thought they were supposed to be longer.

Re: My mount vision still has the feeble early rear arm. I'm shocked it hasn't gone because it's had a fair bit of use since 96. I'm still running the fox coil over shock. It works really well but weighs a ton compared to an air shock. This b17 is running a fox air shock at the rear. Been told...
