    Trying to identify 105 groupset

Many thanks @pigman. Really good to know. I think the only limitation with 8 speed is the spacing if you go for a cassette with a very low gear.

    Trying to identify 105 groupset

Aha, brilliant, really great to know that. Yes, agree totally, this is my first 105 group old or new and I'm very impressed. Just changed from a DA 7401 group that I've been using for many years and although the 105 maybe feels a little bit plasticy compared to the 7401, changing is probably...

    Trying to identify 105 groupset

Many thanks @otherself. Really incredibly helpful to see the different versions. Looking at the velobase webpage I was fairly convinced that mine group was the RD1056 as it is an 8 speed group. However, it's interesting to see that my STI brakes/shifters are 1055, brakes are 1055, hubs are...

    Trying to identify 105 groupset

Trying to determine what series the 105 groupset is on my bike. It is a mid 90s Vitus I believe (although not 100% certain) and was told that the groupset is original to the bike. Not sure whether this will help but this is a photo of the rear mech:

Hello Everyone I saw a physio on Wednesday who offered some hope of me getting back up on a bike again so am temporarily withdrawing it but will re-post if it doesn't work out! Due to quite a serious back problem I am having to stop cycling altogether and, with great reluctance, I am selling...

For Sale SOLD: Used Shimano HG-70 8-Speed Cassette 12-21 REDUCED!

I bought this about 3 years ago, described as a 'barely used' cassette. At the time I was really struggling to find a Dura Ace 12-21 cassette. Sods law......as soon as I'd ordered the HG-70 a DA cassette came up and this has sat in my parts box ever since. Never even fitted. I have had a...

Compatibility, 7401 Dura Ace with 7410, Advice Please

Aha! So as long as it's a Hyperglide it will be OK regardless? :)

Compatibility, 7401 Dura Ace with 7410, Advice Please

Yes, I've always used Hyperglide cassettes on the bike. The 7401 I've seen is also definitely Hyperglide and not Uniglide.
