1996 Presto Rapido...

My old road frame, bought it in the Presto shop in 1996. Used it as a singlespeed city racer for a while, but rebuilt again, this time with a rear mech. Presto Rapido (by Andrea Pesenti) Columbus Gara with a mix of Campagnolo parts, including a Pista crankset with a nos early eighties 144 BCD 3/32 Super Record chainring. After some rides I am very happy with it but I will change the tires to either 28mm Clément Strada or 27mm Challenge Parigi-Roubaix.

Thanks, but a closer inspection reveals a lot. I did consider a respray but since I've owned this frameset all those years this is all part of my history so I settled for sealing the rusty spots with a clear coat instead...

Frame set is all cleaned and waxed. NOS 3ttt stem and bars, nos Campagnolo Chorus crankset, used Chorus brakes and derailleurs, Record headset and left downtube shifter. Looking to replace the Veloce Ergopowers for Chorus too.

Jagwire cables, black Brooks leather bar tape and polished bottle holders are on their way, to be followed by the Ambrosio Nemisis rims. In doubt between 25mm Dugast or Veloflex. Read some worrying stories about wobbly Dugast due to quality issues.

Thanks! BTW, the cables will be dark grey Jagwires but I am a bit undecided about the bar tape. Ordered black Brooks leather but figured I could probably also get away with white leather (black saddle/white bar tape was quite common in the 90s when this frame was built) or even celeste cotton tape. Any advise on the matter from the forum members?

I'd go with white or celeste bar tape. Look at my Bianchi thread for the look
cinlli cork tape on that.
Interesting choice of wheels in on of those shots. Spinegy and radial! :lol:
Nicer with normal ones .
