gt lts

hi there i am thinking of buying a gt lts 1 maybe or zaskar to build up i have seen one although some of the parts on the bike arent that good the guy has added a hope disc front brake but would probably take it off.
What should i be looking for on the bike like the pivots etc
its has mostly deore on, and judy tt forks which are pretty scratched up

If it's an LTS, look at the pivots, particularly those on the shock linkage at the top. They seem to be pretty prone to wear and tear.

Both the LTS and the Zaskar aren't known for cracking, so as long as the frame doesn't look battered to within an inch of it's life then it should be structurally sound. However if you get the chance, take a look around all of the welds just to make sure.

If you're thinking of buying an LTS and the rear bushes/bearings need replacing, then don't worry about it too much, as BETD ( www.betd.co.uk ) still carry all the spares.

Get either of them built up with a set of Rockshox Judy SL/XC/DH from 1995/1996/1997 and some nice XT M737 kit and you're on to a winner.

go first generation LTS with the cast titanium upper link, they are a much nicer looking bike than the later ones.

and yeah, try and get an. american made 6061 version, ie LTS1 or Team

Deore thumb shifters

Deore lx crank

Deore front mech

Stx rear mech

Hope hydraulic front disc brake and deore hub

Rear v brake

Ritchey comp stem

Rock shox judy tt forks

Panaracer cinder tyres

he says 200 quid is that worth it haalf the stuff i would take off

sounds like you might be better looking for the right frame, then building it up.

plenty of them around, its the RTS that is less common..

If you want to run discs you could look for a later frame.

tbh i am not botthered about discs my zaskar pro 2003 i had was a lovely bike i poured hours of love into her but when i hurt my wrists and how bad they are i sold her idiot!!!
I just always wanted to have another gt bike and these took my fancy unless i got another zaskar
guy just sent me a pic of the bike

I think i just like GTs in general

I still haven't got round to building the one I picked up. Should get to it this year sometime. Look forward to hearing how you get on. They seem plentiful on the various auction sites. I reckon mine is a 3, though it was stickered up as Team, he he.
