We've been watching what you guys are getting in the way of snowfall. Sorry, but it's kind of amusing. Case in point, we get what's called lake effect snow here, where the wind comes across open water, picks up moisture, then dumps it when it hits land. There's a town about an hour west of me south of Lake Huron that got 145 cm. (that's 4 ft. 9 in.) in 36 hours 2 weeks ago. The surrounding area only got 100 cm.

It all depends if you are used to it or not,the last time we had frozen norfolk broads, was about 1988 when it was about 4 inches thick,it is thicker this year above the highly tidal sections.

Aye, preparedness is what its about, how Canada and the Scandinavian countries just get on with the job..................seems in GB that (especially the BBC and ITV news) folk are continually amazed that white stuff falls from the sky in the coldest month of the year. Every year.

Very very annoying how the council salt spreader guy walked past my shop three times with a barrow full of grit and salt etc,the ice outside my shop door was like a sheet of glass but he did not put any salt down

when I asked him why he said and I qoute "this is not my area and I dont have enough" everybody who walks to the market which is where he was going has to walk up the street in front of my shop

So it is ok to break your neck on the way to the market but not when you get there :x :x

But Lysander, what are the chances? With that warped logic you'd expect the same numbers to come up on the lottery every week then it would be too easy and everyone (appart from the feeble minded) would win.
