Need help identify bike

Retro Newbie
Hi to all and thanks for letting me in! I am a mtb enthusiast since the mid-80s from Quebec city Canada. I started purchasing vintage rides last year and I have a hard time finding exactly what this one really is, despite numerous searches on the web. Labeled as a Haro Ultra but may not be as I was told. I already know fork is not Rock Shox Frame is full 4130 cro-mo, of obvious quality from the welds and other details, been upgraded to v-brakes but came w. cantilever probably, full STX-RC build so my guess is that it is from 93-96? Could not find any serial # on frame. Any clue? Can anyone confirm brand/model or knows which brand and model it could be? Thanks in advance to all!

Looks similar to a Mongoose Amplifier, only it's not one. Many builders used this design in the early days of full sus. The canti hangar is good clue...

Re:

Not an Amplifier as there is no pivot at the chain/seat stays, amplifiers seatstays are in line w. rr shock, too. Not this one. Good point for rr canti hanger. That is what I was counting on most to identify it for good. And to the future posters, it is not a Kona Sex 1, 2 or 3 either. It's a really tough one. As you say, very common design of that era. 'Think I'm gonna have to browse through all my old MB Action mags. I guess that's one of the reasons why I kept them for all those years.

Any reason why you think it's 4130 cromo? That decal looks no more original than the rest, all come from a Haro Ultra BMX.

The things that are pointing me away from 'quality' and towards 'lower end generic bike' are:

1) mudguard eyelets on a full suspension frame. Never a very high-end sign
2) pressed steel plate dropouts rather than stronger cast ones tend to point to lower end. The quality of the welds from the stays to the pressed plate dropouts is not overly high
3) low end suspension design with no linkage or sstay/cstay pivots, low end shock and parts like forks, stem, bars, seatpost etc
4) People only tend to replace decals with those of another brand to make their bike look better than it is and so I'd guess that they did this to 'upgrade' it to look like a Haro with Rock Shox. Now that means it was originally lower rent than a Haro which really isn't that top end in itself
4) it doesn't look like it's been resprayed which means the decals were originally applied over the paint and not under clearcoat which often points to a generic frame that is produced for multiple suppliers who then put their own decals on;people like catalog shops, mail order, supermarkets etc
That said, it looks like a fairly solid bike

EDIT:
One final thing - how long are those chainstays? They look massive! 18" long?

Not that this will help but Haro replacement decal sets were readily available about 10-12 years back. I resprayed a tricycle for my nephew and used Haro as they were cheapest/easiest to get.
Did a very nice GT Zaskar Team paintjob on it if I say so myself :-)
