Bit of an odd (read, daft) question really, but never mind....
I have bought a nice little bike for my son, which is great but the seat-post is too long and protrudes into the fittings for the bottle cage.
Once upon a time, you had real problems getting a seatpost that was longer than 300mm, now they rarely seem to be anything less. This is too long, and I need to chop it down. I guess I could find one of necessary, however, does anyone have an opinion for or against sawing off 50mm from a seatpost?
Obviously I would be mindful of the extension markings and never use if for any other application - seems otherwise i need to find something 27.2 and none aero less than 240mm length.
Thoughts welcomed, please
