Hmmm A class.
Didn't Mercedes have to completely re-jig the suspension because the early ones fell over during weave testing? :D :D

This is pretty mad, merc speaks quailty right? Looking at this i guess not!

Have an A 140 at the mo (51 plate) ... bought in a rush to replace our Astra that had the front end mashed by a 4x4 driving meat head
any way thought the A class was going to be ok ...until after two weeks
when the auto gear box went tits up  got it fixed under warrenty
:D but looking to off load it as soon as poss !! did a bit of reserch on the
interweb and there are lots of things that can go wrong ...and they all cost lots to fix, on a plus point theres loads of leg room in them ....and thats
about it ...
Mick :)

just a footnote on all this...my v70 s reg 2.5 estate volvo just slapped 170000 in the face and only cost 700 quid....body work is perfect with only a left side bush being sorted at the last mot...

My 52 reg diesel has had a auxillary drive belt go (thats because i ignored it for 2months) that's it.

Clutch has just gone, normal type, nothing special. Engine out job, 10hrs labour looking at small change from £850

a class... wouldnt touch them big big bills when they go wrong
doblo is fantastic, ive never been a fan of fiats but i used to drive a doblo van every day, used to get it off the clock on the m45 (my owp private stretch officer) and never complained.
french cars get a bad rep but citroen seems to be quite good and i had a peugeot 406 estate that seemed to take anything i could throw at it.
italian cars drive awesome but they just dont like water.....ever.

My father had an A class a few years ago. LWB version on a 51 plate. The trim was very poor with bits coming unstuck left right and centre. During his time with it I don't recall any major technical issues, but he only kept it a year before opting for a B class which was much more Mercedes usual level of quality. He has had 3 of those in a row now, only just last week going away from them and buying a Prius in the hunt for lower ownership costs now he has retired.
