Anyone paint their own frames/forks ?

Re:

I did this Dyna-Tech a few years ago, turned out ok, although the finish never seems as durable as the factory paint or powdercoat.
With the price of powdercoating being so cheap I doubt I'll ever spray a bike frame in a single colour again, I only sprayed this one as I didn't want to risk the tubes unbonding themselves in the powdercoating oven!

Thanks enc, M-power forks look good.
I take it you are slightly a BMW man..

Was trying to find pics of the Kula mid-paint.
Will look through photobucket.

Is it THAT obvious ? I'm a golf bore too  I tried painting various frames over the years with mixed results. Since I started to experiment with the Beemer stuff, refurbing winter wheels etc I realised its bloody good at giving a great result.

What BMW do you own? :)

Done a few sets of wheels.
Compomotives are favourite though :)

Re:

Did you use a two part automotive quality paint or a rattle can? That's a HUGE difference right there. Plus you need to throw a few layers down and clear coat the piss out of it. Even then depending on what you're trying to get the paint to bond on it still may never stick as well as a factory finish.

I owned those wheels for 4 years after painting and when they were sold they still looked the same.
Just use cans.
Got good money too. Not many 17" 5stud Vauxhall Compos.

Love my minty E46 M3 Cab :) Very true about refurbing the wheels. A quick clean and prep and they come out perfect every time. Beemer rattle can is the nuts !
