campag compatibility?

I have a Campag 8 speed setup on my bike from about 97' which still runs great but the drivetrain needs replacing. Getting hold of a new 8 spd cassette does not seem too troublesome but Will current campag 9 speed derailluers work with this? I have heard that they use the same width of chain.

Any advice would be most welcome,

per this excellent resource (http://www.campyonly.com/phpBB2/index.php) the 8spd / 9spd rear mech geometry seems to be different (movement per cable pull). that said, do you really need to replace the mech? maybe just the jockey wheels?

in any case, i ride campy 8 as well and highly recommend the SRAM 8spd chain with your fresh set of campy cogs. my shifting improved dramatically over the sachs chain i'd been running.
