Nokia sport tracker but it's still very early days with it....

Let me know how you get on, If you can link it to Everytrail it will be a good tool

I use SatMap for any long trips, or when visiting places I've never been – having scalable OS maps right in front of you, with your location pinpointed, and route traveled is really cool. Not to mention you can quickly see if there are alternative routes (if the one you're on is too churned up), and you can spot the local pubs more easily

I use MotionXgps on the iphone

How is it? and how much was the app? Think Tracker was £2.45 but worth every penny, just wish my iPhone was smaller so I could take it on a run.

stewlewis: Sounds like a good bit of tech

Crayons: I used to use one that had all the pubs on it, very useful
(I still have that one on the phone just in case)

SportTracks is a freebie, it's not a routing app but it's a great diary/inventry/logbook, you can use it with most any GPS device with the GPS Babel filter:

I don't use the Garmin for anywhere near what it can do, workout programmes and basic routing. It's just a glorified cycle computer. I used to use SportTracker on the Nokia and upload the GPX to SportTracks.

It was about that price, you can get a demo for free. It's my mates not mine but we all share the data. He uses a neoprene arm strap holder thingy for his so I don't see why you can't run with it.

We are also looking at a package that caches google maps so it doesn't always need a phone link but I can't remember what that is called.

I won't be getting an Iphone till it is out on someone other than O2 as I got annoyed with their customer service. Not long now.

Yeah not long now, should be good on orange, O2's 3G reception is rubbish compared to others.

I keep my phone in my rucsack. It wouldn't last long on my arm :)
It would be handy to have the maps on the phone without needing signal.
