...fat afterburner stays were 1991 onwards...My money is on a Team Issue, with that tubing, and a 1992 one at that. Shame it has been so neglected as it should be a nice bike...just looks like this has been left in someones back garden/pond! for the last 10 years!

Hi what are the fat afterburner stays you talk of please??

The 'afterburners' are the tubes that run from the seatpost clamp down to the wheel, or seat stays as often referred as.
Basically a gimmick but the 'fatter' the tubes, the better the response from the frame..etc...allegedly.?

From 1991 onwards the 'afterburner stays' were decal'd on the frame.

Again, a gimmick but marin attached a technical term to it. The benefit is that it helps us determine a frames' age, model..etc...
