Spoke Length ?

Stripped my wheel down and want to rebuild with black butted spokes.
I want to order replacements but I'm a bit confused about where to measure from.
Thread end is easy but the hub end not sure if it is from centre of spoke or from inside of bend.... please help getting foncused. :?

Put the ruler inside the elbow and measure to the thread end. Well, that's the way I do it! Sort of hang the spoke over the end of the ruler sounds easier to visualise!!

Thanks for the reply, I will order some now.
Thought I was doing something wrong cos non of my measurements matched any of the spoke available.

In which case perhaps you better wait for a second opinion!!

I think OP is measuring existing spokes that he simply wishes to replace?

Was just going to double check the lengths against the actual measured lengths to reassure :)
But your measurement method is correct

Thanks fellas.
Jalco rims, front hub a quando thing and rear is a shimano deore.
But I'm happy now I know where the measurement is taken from to replace my existing spokes (dimensions now nearer to available ones :)).

Never heard of Jalco so cannot help you there.

If you go to the other side of the elbow it would only be about 2mm longer and you should still be able to buy that length spoke, they're all available.

inside of the elbow is correct yes. this picture of a spoke ruler kind of sums up the whole process. obviously, spoke is measured off at the end of the thread against the ruler..
