What am I not seeing about tonight's flat tyre episode?

Rode about 7 road miles to play badminton earlier. Bike unridden for several weeks prior to tonight, but all ok when I took it outside. Tyres pumped up prior to this, all ok with valve and valve core, which I always check out of habit.

After an hour of badminton I found the rear tyre was flat. Mate gave me lift home and I took wheel apart to find no apparent problem. Same tube and tyre combo now sat pressurised, and like butter wouldn't melt, in the corner!.....

What am I not seeing here?....... :|

SO what, you don't ride your bike for a few weeks, then then just jump on it to go play badmitten. Of course its tyre is going to go flat! You can't treat bikes like that I'm afraid.
Bikes have feeling too you know. And sometimes they hurt....

Schrader valve? The valve core is not tightly screwed home.Presta? When you pumped it up a bit of grit got in and stopped the valve sealing,when you pumped it back up you blew the grit off.

Or you won one badminton game to many and got cocky.

If it is a presta valve, the valve cap might be slightly pressing on the valve core. I had a similar thing recently - flat tyre when ever I went to ride the bike after it had stood for a day or three. No puncture that I could find. I'm still not 100% sure of cause, but changing the valve cap seems to have solved it (for now anyway) - so above is still hypothesis :?

Naaah, presta Steve.....a man has certain standards you know!.....

Bugloss, it was the first time in ages, I rushed and didn't put my little 'sport billy' pack in my bag with the bits I needed to whack a spare tube in and get home!......lesson learned!..... :facepalm:

It does seem to have been valve related......it's been ok since I took it all apart!.....
